Rob Gronkowski Reveals Why He Didn’t Return With New England Patriots

Talented tight end Rob Gronkowski surprised everyone with his return to the NFL, because many thought that he’d join the New England Patriots.

Gronk keeps surprising everyone because he makes the most unpredictable moves when compared to other players. The tight end was just 29 when he announced his decision to retire. He was out of the football field for a year and used his time to have fun and sign other huge deals. There was so much speculation about Gronk’s return, and many thought that he’d come back to New England. He came back, but to join the Bucs.

The former Patriots tight end went on WEEI 93.7 to talk about his new chapter and his new era in Tampa. Tom Brady signed a deal with a new team, and it looks like this had an impact on his big move. Well, Gronk says he wanted to see how would his performance change in a different state.

“No, no that actually was really never the case,” he said. “As a player, you always want to see what it’s like somewhere else. [I] thought of that before definitely after playing nine years in the NFL and also thought about it when I came out of retirement. This is an opportunity to go see what it’s like somewhere else, to go see what it’s like in the NFL on another squad. There’s so many players that bounce around on so many different teams. I loved my time in New England, no doubt about it. But it was another opportunity that presented.”

Rob Gronkowski didn’t return to the Patriots

The tight end said that he and TB12 never discussed things behind the curtains. Gronk and his favorite quarterback never planned anything.

“But no, we never really ever talked about that before. It kind of just happened. [With] my retirement and him hitting free agency, it kind of just lined up like that.”

It looks like Gronk is happy in his new home. He joined the Bucs to play with Brady and win a Super Bowl. Now he has the chance to do that.

The Bucs have Gronk and Brady on the roster. This means that they got extra reinforcement.
