Anthony Davis, Kyle Kuzma Speak Out After Lakers-Blazers Boycott

LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Kyle Kuzma and the rest of the players on the Lakers roster decided to boycott Game 5 of the first-round series against the Portland Trail Blazers. Players of every league are trying to make a statement following the shooting of Jacob Blake.

Davis and his teammates seek justice and the same applies to players of other NBA teams. The Milwaukee Bucks were the first team to boycott Game 5. NBA players delivered a bold message and their voices are heard.

“We want justice for Jacob Blake,” Davis said. “The good thing is that he is stable and survived but … it’s unacceptable…We’re continuing to talk and try to find justice for him and everyone else whose been a victim. For us, it’s continuing to push the envelope  on every situation on social justice, and it doesn’t stop.”

A police officer shot Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, as he was making his way to the car. His kids were right there and Blake is paralyzed from the waist down.  The police officer shot Blake in the back multiple times. This tragedy happened three months after the death of George Floyd.

Kyle Kuzma agrees with Anthony Davis on the boycott

Young Kuzma talked to media members about racism and social injustice. We are still living with an ancient problem and the situation doesn’t seem to improve.

“Such a terrible situation that we’re going through in this country, still, after so many years of this,” Kuzma said. “For a man to get shot seven times by cops, unarmed, in front of his kids, that his kids will probably remember the rest of their lives—that’s scary. Not only for me but every African-American, every minority in this country. It’s something that we need to continue to work on as a society to change.”

LeBron James and other athletes spilled their frustration after yet another case of police brutality against an unarmed African-American.

The NBA will reschedule games on Friday or Saturday and players will use their platform to raise general awareness and make a change.
