Anthony Davis Reacts To Joining Kobe Bryant in Lakers’ Record Books

Anthony Davis had a brilliant performance in the game against the Utah Jazz and joined a group of Kobe Bryant and other basketball greats. The Lakers big man led his team to an awesome 116-108 win against the Jazz. Davis hit a few records with his brilliant performance and made history. Being in the same group as Kobe is a great deal for Davis.

When asked ato comment his performance after the big game, Davis said that he was honored to be mentioned “in the same breath as Kobe.”

“I just got chills. … to be in a category with [Kobe Bryant], I know he’s looking down on us and cheering us on, so we want to do it for him,” Davis said.

The Lakers big man matched a few Kobe records in the game. His first record was the most 20-point first-half outing in purple and gold.

“Anthony Davis scored 23 points in the 1st half tonight, the 20th time this season he scored 20+ in a half. He’s the first Lakers player with 20 such halves in a season since Kobe Bryant in 2012-13.”

Davis finished the game with 42 points and that’s fifth in this season.

“Anthony Davis (5) has the most 40-point games by a Laker in a season since Kobe Bryant’s eight during 2012-’13,” Clevis Murray tweeted. “Davis’ three 40-point, 10-rebound games in a season are the most by a Laker since Bryant’s three during 2007-‘08.”

The superstar’s final stat line was brilliant. Davis had 42 points on 13-of-28 shooting, four 3-pointers, 12 rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block.

LeBron had a great game, too. He scored 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting, two triples, eight rebounds, nine assists, two steals and a block. King James combined with Davis to match yet another Kobe-related Lakers milestone.

It was a great evening for Davis. The Lakers clinched the first overall seed in the Western Conference with this win. They have five more seeding games.

The Lakers are now focused on getting ready for the long playoff run. This is a really important season for the team.
