Bill Belichick Sends Message To Ron Rivera After Cancer Diagnosis

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is a man of few words, but he couldn’t remain silent after Ron Rivera got his cancer diagnosis. Pretty much every member of the NFL knows that Belichick likes to keep his thoughts to himself. Well, the brilliant coach delivered a great message on behalf of him and his team.

The Patriots head coach released a statement on Friday, offering his well-wishes to the Washington head coach. According to Belichick, Rivera is a great friend and a respected person in the NFL.

“On behalf of our team and organization I want to send along our best wishes to Coach Rivera,” Belichick said. “Ron’s been a good friend. Certainly a person who’s had a great career in the National Football League. He’s a quality person, player, [and] coach. So, we just want to send our best wishes along to him and hope for a speedy and complete recovery. And we hope that he’s doing well.”

Bill Belichick and other NFL names support Ron Rivera throughout his battle against cancer

Rivera is one of the few head coaches with several wins over the Patriots head coach without a loss. The Carolina Panthers defeated Belichick in regular-season games in 2013 and 2017 en route to playoff appearances.

Rivera made an announcement yesterday that he is in the early stages of squamous cell carcinoma. The NFL offered tons of support, and Rivera also received messages from college football and sports leagues across the world. Rivera still works with the team and hasn’t made comments on his next move. Washington sure has a “Plan B” in case Rivera leaves the team.

During his nine seasons with the Carolina Panthers, the head coach went 76-63-1 and won three NFC South titles. He also made four playoff appearances. In 2015, Rivera went 15-1 and won the first NFC Championship since the 2003 season. However, the team lost to Denver in Super Bowl 50.

We are sending our messages of support and hopefully, Rivera will make his recovery. The NFL needs him and his talent can sure help a team win Super Bowls. Stay strong, Ron Rivera!
