Bill Belichick’s Comments on Coaching Turnover Prove Why He’s The GOAT
The pairing of quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick has proven to be one very smart move. Under Belichick’s coaching, they won a whopping six championships, appeared in eight consecutive AFC Championships from 2011 to 2018, and posted 19 straight winning seasons.
There’s another thing going on in the background that never gets enough recognition for New England’s reign of success, though. That’s the seamless transition the franchise makes while preparing assistant coaches for new roles after others have departed.
Well, speaking to reporters on Friday, Belichick’s statement included coaching turnover and how it actually adds a different perspective to his philosophy.
Bill Belichick asked about how he goes about preparing an assistant coach for changing positions: “I think a move isn’t as monumental as you think it is. … In some cases, it brings a different perspective.”

Belichick emphasized coaches already know “adjacent positions.”
Belichick’s GOAT of NFL Coaching Title
This is one of the many reasons why the 68-year-old is tabbed the GOAT of NFL coaching. His schematic adaptability helped him stay ahead of the rest league and on top of the coaching world for the last 19 years. Also, the extent to which he keeps the rest of his staff on their toes and prepared for change is just as important.
In most cases, coaching turnover would do a serious harm on a franchise. At the very least, it normally sets a team back a few years. Not the Patriots, though. They lost Tom Brady and also have to replace arguably the greatest offensive line coach of the last 25 years in Dante Scarnecchia. But they will not be hindered.

The Patriots’ offensive line will not miss a beat in 2020.
