Frank Vogel Reveals Rajon Rondo’s Status Ahead of Next Playoff Series

The Los Angeles Lakers are entering the second round of the playoff series after defeating the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round. Lakers head coach Frank Vogel provided an update on the team’s next move and also talked about Lakers veteran Rajon Rondo.

Vogel is hopeful Rondo will join the team in the second-round playoff series against the Oklahoma City Thunder or the Houston Rockets.

Rondo has been supporting his team from the sidelines from the moment he fractured his right thumb in the Lakers’ second practice inside the NBA bubble. The veteran was getting ready for his return in Game 3 in Game 3 against Portland. However, his back spasms had a different story to tell. Rondo complained of his spasms after warm-ups and stretching. He was considered a late-game scratch. Rondo remained on the sidelines in Games 4 and 5 of the series.

Frank Vogel is optimistic about Rajon Rondo and his return

The Lakers head coach confirmed that Rondo practiced Monday. Vogel is confident about Rondo’s return in the second round of the playoffs.

“I don’t think we have to list the injury report until we get an actual game schedule, but he looked good today, and we’re hopeful to have him in this series,” Vogel said in a videoconference call Monday.

The four-time All-Star and one-time NBA champion was averaging 7.1 points, three rebounds and five assists in 20.5 minutes a game before the NBA hiatus on March 11.

LA will confront the winner of the Rockets-Thunder series in the second round of the NBA playoffs. These teams will have Game 6 of the series on Monday. If they play Game 7, they will have to meet again on Wednesday. The Rockets are leading the series 3-2 and they are hoping to make an advance to the second-round series.

LeBron and his teammates are getting ready for the big game and they won’t give up without a good fight. The Lakers are trying to make a big move, and they will sure try to win the championship this season. LeBron is leading the way, and Anthony Davis is right by his side.
