Julian Edelman Gives Specific Reason Why He Enjoys Working With Cam Newton

The New England Patriots will have to rely on a different quarterback-receiver duo in 2020. Veteran wideout Julian Edelman was catching passes from Tom Brady for two decades and now he is practicing with Cam Newton. The Patriots have yet to make a decision on their new quarterback.

In one of his most recent posts, Edelman compared himself and the former Carolina Panthers quarterback to Batman and Superman.

The wideout appeared on WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show on Friday to talk about the reasons he has to appreciate his work with Newton. It’s all about their communication.

“I think it’s an open forum with him,” the wideout said when asked about how the quarterback handles route running and timing.

“‘Hey, what do you see here, what do you see there.’ I have played a lot of football in this league too, and he’s played a lot of football in this league. It’s more of a team — ‘What do you see here? I think here is this, that,’” Edelman continued. “It’s pretty cool, I guess.”

Julian Edelman likes Cam Newton

The 2018 Super Bowl MVP likes Newton’s energy and work ethic. According to him, Newton is a superstar.

The quarterback is the top option for the Patriots at the moment. Newton has to develop a good relationship with Patriots wideouts. This relationship will be of utmost importance for the Patriots and their chances to win games in 2020. From what we can see, Newton and Edelman look really good together. Maybe this duo will take the Patriots to the Super Bowl. Newton has to accomplish this to get better money.

New England is off to a challenging episode and this time things will look a lot different. Many players left the team in free agency and a group of eight decided to sit out the upcoming season due to COVID-19 concerns. Head coach Bill Belichick signed and released many players and he is confident about the upcoming season and the impact these changes have on the roster. 2020 will be a long season for the Pats and they are ready for every bit of it.
