Lakers Coach Frank Vogel Considering Permanently Inserting Rookie Into Team’s Rotation

The Los Angeles Lakers played five seeding games inside the Orlando bubble. LA lost three games but they have clinched the No.1 seed in the West. The offense struggles inside the NBA bubble, and some things have to change. Lakers head coach Frank Vogel has an idea and his play may actually do miracles.

NBA fans expected an explosion in Orlando, but pretty much every team got off to a slow start. Of course, some players have had better performance than others. These can actually lead teams throughout the remainder of the season. Lakers rookie Talen Horton-Tucker has been a bright star and Vogel considers using him in rotation.

Lakers coach Frank Vogel likes the impact Horton-Tucker has on the game

Vogel spoke on the impact Horton-Tucker has on the floor. According to him, the rookie may get a permanent spot on the Lakers’ rotation.

“He continues to surprise and impress me,” Vogel said. “He’s making a case for being in the rotation … he played really strong, looked really comfortable against a good team tonight.”

The rookie had a chance to show off during the game against Houston. He was brilliant and yes, he used his minutes pretty wisely. Horton-Tucker finished the game with 10 points, 4 steals and two rebounds in 19 minutes. The rookie was Vogel’s only bench player to hit double digits in the loss to the Rockets.

Vogel and his team have three games left on the schedule. The Indiana Pacers are next on their list. Will Vogel give his rookie more minutes in the next game? It will be interesting to see Horton-Tucker take a bigger role in the next few weeks.

Things are getting really hot in Florida, and it has nothing to do with the weather. Teams are well aware of the challenge this bubble brings. They came all the way to Orlando to win the championship. There’s no room for mistakes and excuses. There’s no room for injuries.

Players need to play their best to stay in the game. It will be a wild playoff run, and the Lakers are leading the way despite their offensive struggles.
