Lakers Legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Reacts To Players’ Strike

Los Angeles Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar took to Twitter to make a statement on the playoff boycott inside the NBA bubble. The Jacob Blake shooting shocked the entire nation and NBA players boycotted the NBA playoffs. The league rescheduled games and players took part in many meetings. LeBron James walked out of the meeting. He wanted to leave the bubble and move on with the fight against social injustice. His teammates and LA Clippers players did the same. There was another meeting and players agreed to move on with the playoffs.

Numerous basketball legends spoke their mind on the boycott and the shooting of the 29-year-old African-American. Abdul-Jabbar delivered a clear message. The civil rights icon said, “our political leaders have to figure out a way to legally make it structurally important that we are able to hold bad cops accountable.”

Lakers legend Kareem is right

Wisconsin police shot Blake seven times in the back. He is paralyzed from the waist down. The shooting affected the league and players even planned to finish the playoffs.

The Milwaukee Bucks are from Wisconsin and they were the first team to make a move. They boycotted Game 5 of the first-round series against the Orlando Magic. The Bucks didn’t even inform the rest of the teams and some players didn’t like it at all. Players had an emergency meeting Wednesday. It was heated and awful. King James didn’t like how the Bucks made such a big move without even consulting with other teams.

The Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets boycotted their game too. LA and Portland sat out the game. The NBA postponed Thursday and Friday’s games, rescheduling them for Saturday.

The Lakers are 3-1 on the Blazers and a win on Saturday can push them to the second round of the playoffs.

NBA players were pretty serious about leaving Orlando and boycotting the playoffs. It was a big move and everyone got the message. Basketball stars are not kidding. They seek justice. Blake’s family seeks justice. Breonna Taylor’s family has questions. What will happen next in Orlando?
