Lakers Skipping Shootarounds Because of LeBron James and Anthony Davis

The Los Angeles Lakers are no longer having official shootarounds. The NBA is finally back in its bubble form. The Lakers are currently 1-1 on the new season. The play on the court has looked okay so far. But there are definitely things that need to get better before the playoffs.

If the Lakers want to work towards and get into the title game, they are going to have to make some changes. It looks like there is a new change with the Lakers but we aren’t sure if this is a change that needed to be made.

There will no longer be official shoot-arounds by the Lakers. A new report has come out that explains the reasoning and it doesn’t really look good. According to the report, the only reason they have made this decision is because LeBron James and Anthony Davis do not want to do them.

Granted, it has not had a big impact on the team so far this season. The Lakers were 49-14 before the season was postponed. This was good enough for one of the best records in the NBA. But at the same time, shoot arounds seem like a good thing rather than something that is detrimental.

Who knows, the Lakers did lose their first game since the season resumed. LeBron talked about the loss to the Toronto Raptors, giving the credit where it is due.

“Great team. No if’s, and’s or but’s… well coached… Championship DNA,” he said. “The media may not give them as much credit because Kawhi is gone but players know what type of team they are.”

“That’s a great team. They won the championship for a reason. It wasn’t all solely because of Kawhi [Leonard].”

He went on to say that the team basically knows what they are doing.

“They’ve got the two-headed monsters in Fred [VanVleet] and Kyle [Lowry] that set the tone. Their wings are extremely good in Pascal [Siakam] and OG [Anunoby]. They’ve got experience in the frontcourt at the centre position in Marc [Gasol] and Serge [Ibaka] and then they’ve got a bunch of complementary guys. That’s why they’ve been the team they’ve been all year.”
