Leader Emerging: Cam Newton vs Jarrett Stidham vs Brian Hoyer

The New England Patriots will have to pick their next starting quarterback. Cam Newton, Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer will try to win the position, and it won’t be easy. The team will make a decision based on the events of this week. New England had the first padded practices, and it looks like we have a leader. Any bets on Newton vs Stidham vs Hoyer?

Second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham only threw six passes on Thursday and completed two of them with two more picks. His total for the week is seven. This may be training camp, and head coach Bill Belichick is not happy with those interceptions. Stidham just keeps them coming.

Pats coaches get to decide who wins the Newton vs Stidham vs Hoyer battle

Hoyer didn’t really have a real chance to become a starter. Thursday was a bad day for the veteran journeyman. Hoyer doesn’t cope well with the dual roles. He has to mentor and compete for a job.

Newton didn’t have his best day on Thursday. However, he was solid and dependable. The 2015 NFL MVP showed his mobility. He couldn’t do this in practice.

The former Carolina Panthers quarterback is beginning to prove himself to be more dependable sending passes than Stidham. Will Belichick use him as a starter in September.

Newton is trying to get acclimated to the offense. But, he looks pretty strong on the field. The Patriots like his development and they will probably pick him. Of course, Newton has to keep the same pace. New England likes him and he is a good fit for the team.

Belichick has great words for his quarterback but he doesn’t say anything more than that. He keeps everything to himself and fans have started asking questions. Who is starting games for the Patriots? Is Newton the right replacement for Tom Brady? The brilliant Tom Brady? It’s a tricky situation for the veteran quarterback. He has the experience Belichick needs and he had better days in training camp. But, Stidham is also a wonderful player and Hoyer has shown some insane skills on the field. Let’s see how will things develop for these three.
