NBA teams boycott playoff games in an effort to protest against police brutality and social injustice. The death of George Floyd triggered mass protests across the country. Three months later, a police officer shoots an unarmed African-American in front of his kids. Yes, it’s as bad as it seems and NBA players are trying to make a statement. They want to finish the season but they also want authorities to make a change and seek justice for Jacob Blake.

There’s an ongoing speculation related to some NBA players and their plans to leave the bubble. NBA players voted to continue the postseason. King James delivered an important speech during a conference call. He pointed out to several important topics, including the importance of fighting for social justice.

LeBron has been vocal on many social issues. He has delivered lengthy speeches on racism and racial injustice. The three-time NBA champion started off the More Than a Vote initiative to give African-Americans the right they deserve.

Canceling games would come with a big cost. There is about $1 billion in national TV money. The first round has yet to be finished and we don’t really know how much the NBA would have had to pay back to TV channels.

The league’s collective bargaining agreement would have been cancelled and team owners would have locked their players out until a new contract for them was reached.

How will the NBA handle the situation? It is a tough situation for everyone and the NBA has to play smart. Players are fed up with the manslaughter. Innocent people are dying or hurt and they won’t just play basketball and pretend nothing happened.

LeBron is frustrated. He has been saying the same things over and over again. The king tried to make a statement and even addressed the biggest problems in society. His efforts in the bubble didn’t help. Maybe players will decide to take the whole thing outside the court.
