LeBron James Ends Season as NBA’s Assist Leader for 1st Time in Career

LeBron James is in his 17th NBA season and he is about to win his fourth ring. Well, we all know that LeBron joined the Los Angeles Lakers to win a championship. Another trophy? Why not…  Players of 22 teams had to finish the regular season inside the Orlando bubble. Everyone had ups and downs, but LeBron managed to keep his stats at the same level. The three-time NBA champion finished the season as the ultimate leader in assists. He was leading the NBA assists prior to the NBA hiatus, remember? The great LeBron James added another win to his portfolio, and he is the ultimate assist leader.

For the first time in his long basketball career, LeBron finished the regular season as the league’s assist leader with 10.2 points per game. LeBron has never averaged double-digit assists before 2019-2020. He had his previous high of 9.1 assists per game and it happened during his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers (2017-18).

LeBron is a real leader on the floor, and he has the power to make his teammates better players. He is really proud of this, and fans love his role as a facilitator on offense. Now he has these numbers to prove it.

LeBron James likes to assist and score

King James is focused on finding open teammates. That’s a key part of his game. He may be playing in the frontcourt or backcourt, but he always finds the strength to leave one of his teammates wide open.

The Los Angeles Lakers signed Anthony Davis to take advantage of LeBron’s passing talent. These two play alongside Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Danny Green and Avery Bradley. Kyle Kuzma is becoming a star and LeBron really likes this.

The Lakers averaged 25.3 assists per game in 2019-20. King James accounted for 40 percent of his helpers. The four-time NBA-MVP has assisted on at least 75 field goals for six different players.

In his 17-year career, LeBron has led the NBA in field goals (2004-05, 2007-08, 2010-11, 2012-13, 2017-18) two-point field goals (2011-12, 2012-13, 2015-16), free throws (2008-09), points (2017-18) and triple-doubles (2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11). 

The assists title is definitely an excellent addition to his portfolio.
