Mike Tannenbaum Explains Why Cam Newton Will ‘Thrive’ In New England

Mike Tannenbaum thinks that Cam Newton is going to be huge in New England Patriots. This is music to Patriot fans’ ears as many are wondering if he has what it takes. Cam Newton was picked up on a 1 year contract. Many fans like Newton to take over the starting position after Tom Brady left for Tampa Bay.

Apparently, fans are not the only ones who think Cam Newton will be great in New England. Replacing Tom Brady is no easy task. And there will still be a battle for the starting position. However, Newton definitely has what it takes to be successful in New England.

According to Mike Tannenbaum, Newton is going to be great in New England.

“I’m not concerned at all, because Belichick is unbelievably consistent, and that goes for anybody in the personnel department,” Tannenbaum said. “When we made a mistake — and trust me, I’d know about it — the standards were the standards. When we did a good job, there was adulation. What they want is consistency, and when Newton looks to his right and left, he’ll be treated just the same. If he plays well, coach Belichick is going to celebrate him. And if he makes a mistake, he’s gonna get called out.

“For what I know of Newton indirectly, I think he’s going to thrive there. I think they’re going to be one of the more fascinating stories this year because what they’ll be able to do with all the varied offensive things in the past. They’re very hard to defend. I think he’s going to fit in well. If you love football, working for Belichick is very easy.”

It sounds like Newton is going to be able to bring a lot for the table for New England.

Head coach Bill Belichick explained why they chose Newton to begin with previously.

“Things worked out,” Belichick said on a conference call. “We spent quite a bit of time with Cam, and he spent quite a bit of time with us. I think it was a mutual interest. We [spoke to] quite a . . . number of different people and had a number of different conversations just trying to see how the fit would be. It was very positive on our end, and I’m glad it worked out.”
