New England Patriots Surprising Wide Receiver Threatening to Steal a Roster Spot

The New England Patriots are doing their best to get back on track with a surprising wide receiver addition. They are trying to find players who will get them back to the playoffs, after failing to get there a year ago. Things are starting to look up for the Patriots, though.

An undrafted free agent named Devin Ross is looking to take a roster spot. This is pretty big as no one saw him coming.

These are easily the most competitive days of practice and Ross has easily taken over and shown himself as a factor. Ross was called one of the biggest winners of practice on Monday. many people could not stop talking about how much of an impact he had on the entire practice.

The wide receiver is less than 6 feed tall and weighs just a bit under 200 pounds. He recently turned 25 years old. He has been a art of the Patriots’ practice team from October to January. However, it did not take them long to elevate him soon after.

Ross played hiss full 4 years at Colorado University but really did not stick out much. The best year of his career was his junior season when he had 69 catches for 784 yards and five touchdowns in back in 2016.

But all eyes are on Cam Newton who is looking to replace Tom Brady this year. Bill Belichick had some things to say about Newton.

“All the quarterbacks have been good,” Belichick told the “Keyshawn, JWill and Zubin” program, as transcribed by WEEI. “Brian Hoyer’s got the most experience of any of our quarterbacks in our system. Jarrett Stidham is really coming on here in Year 2. He got a great year last year in terms of learning and personal and technique development at the position. And Cam has been a late addition, but he’s brought a lot of energy and, obviously, playing experience to our room. For him, it’s catching up on the specifics of the Patriots system, terminology and so forth, which he’s worked extremely hard at. Brian Lewerke is a college free agent quarterback that is also in the room and is a developmental-type player. It’s a good group.

“… They’ve all been great. I’d say, Cam, I just haven’t had experience working with Cam. But he works extremely hard. He puts a lot into it, as do Jarrett and Brian. So it’s a really hard-working, competitive group.”
