NFL Insider Has Injury Update For Patriots RB Sony Michel

New England Patriots most likely starter at running back, Sony Michel has been surprisingly missing from camp this August with an injury.

However, now, NFL insider Ian Rapoport has a few things to say that could be a good thing for Patriot supporters. Today, Rapoport showed us that Michel has been taken off the PUP list and was in fact at training camp today.

Michel had foot surgery early this year and was placed on the PUP list shortly there after. If he was there on the PUP list for too much longer, he would have been ineligible to play for at least a couple games in the 2020 season.

It still is not known if he will be able to play at all during training camp. But it is still much better than nothing at all. If nothing else at all, it gives the Patriots opponents something else to work on before the 2020 season.

The Patriots drafted Sony Michel 31st overall. This happened in the 2018 NFL draft. And he did not disappoint. He rushed for over 900 yards in each of his first two seasons and also had 13 touchdowns.

During a year like this with all the transitions. The Patriots will need all of the proven talent on offense that they can provide. If there is one thing that we think he can provide, we think that this is consistency.

Also, there are questions at the quarterback position. It will either be Cam Newton, Jarrett Stidham or Brian Hoyer at the helm. Still, as long as they have a strong position at the running back core, it should take some problems off the QB position.

Coach Bill Belichick had some thinks to say about this.

“I have learned a lot about Cam,” Belichick explained. “I had never really had any interaction with Cam, and then when we signed him, we had some phone calls and WebEx meetings and stuff like that.

“Being with him every day, he’s an extremely hard-working player,” Belichick continued. “First guy in, last one out type of guy. He really has studied hard and he has spent a lot of extra time trying to learn our offense and our communication and our calls, and nomenclature and so forth. Yeah, I’ve been very impressed with that. He’s done a good job of picking it up. He’s a very skilled athlete and we’re just working through it day-by-day.”
