Patriots’ Cam Newton Has Chilly Response for Critical ‘Anonymous NFL Coach’

Patriots quarterback Cam Newton was more than excited to join the team and become part of head coach Bill Belichick’s system. He was grateful for the opportunity. The New England Patriots were the only team to offer him a deal after the Carolina Panthers cut him in March. Newton’s signing triggered an avalanche of reactions. A group of anonymous doubters didn’t think twice before sharing their take on the quarterback’s role in New England. Well, the 2015 NFL MVP has something to say about this.

In July, an anonymous NFL coach talked to Mike Sando from The Athletic. His words were full of criticism and Newton took notice of that.

“I don’t think he is Superman anymore,” the coach said. “Remember when (Colin) Kaepernick became vegan, changed his body and he just wasn’t as dynamic of an athlete anymore? Cam was 265 and bigger than everybody. He looks skinny now like he is 235 and wants to have ripped abs, and that’s his choice. Is he going to have that power running element?”

Let’s not forget that former Patriots quarterback Cam Newton is also a vegan. His diet didn’t affect his game. Why did this coach use Kaepernick as a reference? Maybe the coach doesn’t like dual-threat quarterbacks.

Cam Newton responds to the coach

Newton talked to media members for the first time Friday. Someone brought up this critique and Newton’s reaction didn’t come as a surprise. He reminds us of someone. We bet head coach Bill Belichick will love the way Newton handles tricky questions.

“I don’t talk to anonymous people,” the quarterback said. “I speak with real people. So as long as this comes from someone anonymous, we’ll leave it at that.”

A great number of athletes are vegan. Some say this lifestyle gives them more energy. Newton said the same during his press conference. Remember the nutritionist said that Newton’s veganism will have a negative effect on his recovery and play?

Brady, Tyrann Mathieu, Jurrell Casey and many others went vegan. Newton has already worked out with some of his new teammates and they all like what they see. He is as big and tough as ever.

Newton sustained his injuries due to his aggressive gameplan. He is trying to be lighter. Maybe this is part of his big plan.
