Patriots Insider Releases Bold Statement On Salary Increase For Cam Newton
The New England Patriots didn’t have too much money to spend on free agents and talented veterans. But things changed overnight and the team has over $35 million available right now. This opens the salary topic, and some say that Cam Newton deserves a better salary.
Tom Curran and Phil Perry discussed this topic and they both believe that New England should give Newton more money to match his experience and talent.

Perry and Curran believe that these players could easily find their spot in Belichick’s roster. But, Newton’ s salary is still a big topic.
“If you do sign a big-name free agent and pay him a guaranteed $5 million, how much is that going to go over with Newton,” Curran asked Perry.

Newton signed a one-year deal. This deal guarantees him the veteran minimum. His $550,000 contract is packed with incentives. Newton will get $7.5 if he hits all of the benchmarks. Well, winning the Super Bowl won’t be easy for him. He has to win the big game to get the big money.
Perry said, “You’re gonna pay that guy about five times more than I’m guaranteed, and I’m supposed to be your starting quarterback?” Yes, he was referring to the potential signing of Dareus.
Curran noted that the team didn’t have a lot of money to offer a month ago. According to Perry, the Patriots should remove some of the incentives and give Newton the full value of the contract for the upcoming season.
