Patriots Linked to Suddenly Troubled All-Pro Safety

The Patriots are now looking at a certain safety. The New England Patriots have been doing a pretty good job of knowing who to sign. This starts with Cam Newton. He has been doing great in training camp so far. Many players who have been with the Patriots for awhile have had only good things to say about Newton.

Legendary quarterback Tom Brady left for Tampa Bay early in this off season. This left a massive void for the Patriots to fill which is more difficult that it sounds.

However, now it is not looking so good, or good depending on who you are a fan of. The Baltimore Ravens released Earl Thomas on Saturday. This was due to conduct that adversely affected the team, whatever that means, we will likely never know. Now, the Patriots are looking like a landing spot for him.

At one point, Thomas was one of the most sought after safeties in the NFL. Now, he will likely be taken on as a risk. Even with the trouble, the Patriots have long been known for taking on former players. This is even if they have some issues with their former team.

This could be another one of those situations.

The Ravens released Thomas after he started a fight during practice. He started becoming very angry when fellow Ravens safety Chuck Clark talked to him about missing the covereage. Thomas apparenty punched Clark which started things and took them to another level.

Thomas has previously made it clear that he wanted to be a part of the Dallas Cowboys. He is from Texas and even played college at the university of Texas.

He has a total of three years left on a 4-year, $55 million contract. This could be complicated based on the fact that the Ravens do not want to pay him any guaranteed money.

The Patriots are busy trying to get back on track after a disappointing 2019 season. Hopefully they will be able to sign whoever they need to continue winning. What do you think?
