Patriots Rookie Flopped Miserably In Training Camp

There was one New England Patriots rookie that flopped miserably in training camp. The Patriots are still trying to get all the pieces they think they need in order to be successful in the 2020 season. This year will need to be a bounce back year. Last season, the Patriots struggled mightily and failed to make it even to the playoffs.

Now, they will be without their long time quarterback Tom Brady, who booked it to Tampa Bay after the season. They are trying to fill some of the holes that they have with rookies, some drafted and some undrafted. Unfortunately, it looks like one rookie has flopped miserably.

They have a few good kickers. One of those is not rookie Justin Ronrwasser. They used a fifth-round selection on the rookie who came out of Marshall. Unfortunately, he has failed to make much noise at all and it isn’t getting much better.

As of now, it looks like the Patriots will once again go with Nick Folk at the starting position. The season starts on September 13th and they will need to be ready.

But the kicker position is not what most of the eyes are on. Cam Newton is most likely going to be the starter this season. It will be very interesting to see how he fits into the offense. According to those close, most think he has been doing great so far.

Head coach Bill Belichick has talked about him in the past.

“He’s an extremely hard-working player,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. “First-guy in, last-one out type of guy. He’s really studied hard and has spent a lot of extra time trying to learn our offense, our communication, our calls, nomenclature and so forth. I’ve been very impressed with that. He’s done a good job of picking it up. He’s a very skilled athlete. We’re just working through it day by day. We have a long way to go.

“We’ve got a very competitive competition at a very competitive position at the quarterback spot. It will be interesting to see how everybody does.”
