Patriots Share Amazing Photos Of Julian Edelman, Cam Newton & Other Players Working Out At Gillette

The New England Patriots are getting ready for the upcoming season. NFL fans got to see some familiar faces Thursday. Well, we did see some new faces on the field. Newly-acquired Patriots quarterback Cam Newton joined his teammates at Gillette Stadium, and it looks like players had everything under control.

Pats players hit the field at Gillette Stadium. They were working on the conditioning before practices start Aug. 12. Players will have full-contact sessions in the final week of August.

The team shared photos of draft selections Devin Asiasi and Dalton Keene. Newton and safety Adrian Phillips were there, too. Veteran wideout Julian Edelman looked really sharp. Matthew Slater, Terrance Brooks, James White, Isaiah Wynn and other players did their best to get things done.

Pats shared the photos right after the league’s 4 p.m. ET deadline about player opt-outs. There are no changes in New England regarding this topic. Eight players won’t join the team in the upcoming 2020 NFL season.

Patriots tight end LaCosse will join running back Brandon Bolden, fullback Danny Vitale, wide receiver Marqise Lee, guard Najee Toran, right tackle Marcus Cannon, linebacker Dont’a Hightower and safety Patrick Chung on the opt-out list. Other NFL teams have two or less player opt-outs.

Ryan Izzo, Asiasi, Keene, Jake Burt and Rashod Berry provide depth to the tight end unit. Fullback Jakob Johnson will join tight ends in team meetings and practice drills. Asiasi and Keene are third-round picks. Burt and Berry are undrafted free agents. Head coach Bill Belichick may use Berry as a linebacker.

LaCosse played 11 games in his first season with the Patriots. He was able to catch 13 passes for 131 yards with a touchdowns. His season was plagued with injuries and he better get ready for the next few years.

New England is confident about this year’s roster and Belichick has enough talented players to move on and win games. The first question to answer would be the starting quarterback issue. Who will go under center in September? Belichick will make a decision after training camp.
