Patriots Veteran Has Telling Comment on Quarterback Cam Newton

A certain New England Patriots veteran has some comments on newly signed quarterback Cam Newton. Cam Newton was signed, well, because he was available. At least that is the reason head coach Bill Belichick gave reporters recently. Belichick has had some kind words for Newton ever since he saw him for the first time.

“He’s an extremely hard-working player,” Belichick said. “First-guy in, last-one out type of guy. He’s really studied hard and has spent a lot of extra time trying to learn our offense, our communication, our calls, nomenclature and so forth. I’ve been very impressed with that. He’s done a good job of picking it up. He’s a very skilled athlete. We’re just working through it day by day. We have a long way to go.

“We’ve got a very competitive competition at a very competitive position at the quarterback spot. It will be interesting to see how everybody does.”

But Belichick is not the only one within the organization to notice Newton.

Patriots veteran Jason McCourty has talked about how impressed he is by Newton’s work ethic. The defensive back has come out about how Newton is basically always at the facility.

“Every morning you come in, and you walk by his locker – whether it’s 6 am, 5:30 am – his locker is already open, he’s already here. And when you’re getting ready to leave, you see him with Patriots gear on doing something,” he said.

It has been a struggle for Newton in the past few season. He is definitely looking at a huge bounce back season in 2020 which would be huge for the Patriots.

The Patriots had quite a disappointing season last year. This is why they are working so hard to fill the holes that were so apparent last season. One of those was at the quarterback position after Tom Brady left for Tamp Bay.

With all of his peers coming out about his amazing work ethic, it will be very interesting to see how he translates to the field. He should be able to make some plays.

What do you think about what he had to say?
