Patriots Waive Injured WR Two Days Before Training Camp

The New England Patriots are getting ready for padded training camp practices. However, this didn’t stop head coach Bill Belichick from making an expected roster move. The Patriots head coach had quite a challenging offseason. He had to fill up a few roster holes. As if this wasn’t enough, the Patriots had to find a replacement for eight opt-outs.

In the most recent Patriots move, the team waived injured wide receiver Quincy Adeboyejo.

The release happened two days before the team’s padded training camp practice. The Patriots are ready for the next chapter, and this move only proves that the team is serious about winning games in 2020. If the injured wide receiver clears waivers, he will revert to the Patriots injured reserve list. New England could release Adeboyejo “with an injury settlement at a later date.”

New England Patriots will have first padded training camp practice Monday

The Patriots added Adeboyejo to the practice squad Nov. 20, 2019. The wide receiver was signed to a future contract this offseason.

Adeboyejo measures at 6 feet 3, 200 pounds. He has spent time with the Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets.

The New England Patriots will have to enter the regular season with the remaining players. They have Julian Edelman, Mohamed Sanu, N’Keal Harry, Jakobi Meyers, Gunner Olszewski, Damiere Byrd, Jeff Thomas, Will Hastings, Isaiah Zuber and Devin Ross on the roster at the moment.

Adeboyejo was a longshot to make the active roster. New England will have to find options for the five open spot on the 80-man roster. Head coach Belichick made a few changes, and he will probably make a few more.

Several players recover from their injuries or surgeries, and Belichick expects to have them ready for Week 1 and the games that follow. The Miami Dolphins come to Foxboro in September and the Patriots have to be prepared for their tough rivals.

Eight players decided to opt out of the season leaving the Patriots in an uncomfortable position. But the team has already seen similar challenges so they won’t have any problem now.
