Patriots WR Draws Huge Compliment From Bill Belichick

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is in the news once again. The New England Patriots are trying to get back on track after a struggle of a season in 2019. The offense was missing quite a few pieces which made it difficult for them to be successful. In order to have a much better 2020 season, the Patriots are doing everything they can to sign as many free agents as possible.

Free agent signings are not the only thing that that the Patriots are working on. Apparently head coach Bill Belichick had some compliments about a certain player. We all know that it is not easy to get a compliment from Bill Belichick.

However, he had a ton of good things to say about Gunner Olszewski’s progress on the team.

Patriots WR Draws Huge Compliment From Bill Belichick

Belichick had some nice things to say.

“Gunner’s improved tremendously – again, both physically and from a football standpoint. He’s a smart kid. He works extremely hard. He’s tough. He’s very, very competitive. It seems he has also learned how to do a lot of different things for us, and he continues to work on things that will expand his opportunities. So, it’ll be interesting to watch him take advantage or try to take advantage of those opportunities, and watch him play and see how all that is coming together.”

This is a good sign and very rare praise from a coach that is known for his hardheadedness.

Most everyone new that Julian Edelman, second-year-pro N’Keal Harry, and Jakobi Myers were definitely going to make the 53-man roster. Mohamed Sanu, would also most likely be in this spot. After these players, it would likely be a pretty good battle between veterans with Damiere Byrd and Marqise Lee having a bit of a lead. Byrd has shown some good flashes. Lee has decided to sit out of the season due to COVID concerns.

And then we get to Olszewski and a group of free agents that went undrafted such as Devin Ross, who will likely battle for the final spots. Based on what coach Belichick had to say, Olszewski could likely get one of the last spots available.
