Report: New England Patriots Interested In This Free Agent Tight End

The New England Patriots are interested in a new free agent tight end. They have been making huge moves in the off season to try to sure up their offense. Last year, it was a bit of a let down, even with Tom Brady at the help.

They are not interested in free agent tight end Delanie Walker. Walker could be a huge get for the Patriots, who have been looking for receivers to add to the offense.

The Tennessee Titans released him in March and he is yet to sign with anyone yet.

Walker has only been able to play in eight games over the past two seasons due to ankle injuries. However, he was in the Pro Bowl in 2015, 2016 and 2017 and had more than 800 receiving yards in four straight seasons from from the years 2014 to 2017.

Walker ranked 2nd in receptions in those 4 years. He was behind only Travis Kelce. He was also third in receiving yards behind Kelce and Rob Gronkowski. Walker was shockingly 7th in touchdowns. Walker played in seven games for the Titans last year. He finished with 21 catches on 31 targets for 215 yards and two touchdowns.

Maybe this will help after many Patriots players are opting out of the season all together due to the COVID situation. Patrick Chung was the last to opt out.

“I’m in the latter end of my career, so I wanted to play football,” he said this week. “But when it comes down to it, I feel that money is not that important. I have a girlfriend that’s pregnant, a baby girl coming soon, my son has a little asthma, my dad is 75 years old. We just felt like this was the best decision for my family to keep everyone safe. I don’t think it’s fair to them.”

“I think that a lot of those players are like, ‘Do I want to do that to go in there and go 7-9 with Jarrett Stidham or Cam Newton or whatever we’re trying to do? If Brady was there though, I don’t think 7-9 would be in the conversation, so no, I don’t think there would be this many players opting out because they would be championship caliber.”

What do you think about all this?
