Report: Patriots Host Marine-Turned Tight End For Tryout

A tight end has completed his try out for the New England Patriots yesterday. The Patriots are working towards getting back on track after losing quite a few players in the off season. Not only this, but they also failed to even make the playoffs last season, which is a problem within itself.

However, it looks like they are trying to sure up their roster. Apparently, a tight end who hasn’t stepped on a football field of any sort in 5 1/2 years had a try out for the New England Patriots yesterday.

Paul Quessenberry graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy. He played his final game for the team all the way back in 2014. He did have a try out back in 2015 for the Houston Texans. However, he instead became an officer in the Marines.

Now years later, Quessenberry has completed his service obligation and is looking to get back on track with his football career. He was a defensive end at Navy. However, he has since moved over the tight end, which fits better with his skill set.

Quessenberry also has a few older and younger brothers (David and Scott). They are both NFL offensive linemen. He obviously comes from an NFL family and that is pretty remarkable.

Another new face in the film room is Cam Newton, who will likely be taking over for Tom Brady this fall. Coach Bill Belichick talked about what he has seen from Newton so far.

“He’s worked very hard, I’d say, as all of our players have,” Belichick said. “I’d say that certainly for all the quarterbacks, at that position, those guys have been locked in, focused and confident in what they’re able to do and the information they have to give to the team — playcalling, adjustments, audibles, protection adjustments, things like that. That’s all going pretty well.”

All of these new faces should be good additions to the Patriots front line. They are definitely in need of some talent and hopefully this will help them get back on track in 2020.
