Newton Is Still Getting Used To Gillette Stadium

Believe it or not, Newton is still awed when he arrives at Gillette Stadium for practice.

“I’m still constantly — I don’t want to say disbelief at this particular point in time, but it’s just a surreal moment,” Newton said. “Nobody really knows how excited I am just to be a part of this organization in many (more) ways than one. Just following up such a powerful dynasty that has enriched so much prestige. A lineage of success.”

He will get used to though. In no time, Newton throwing passes at the stadium will be a regular sight.

The Patriots have yet to make a decision on their starting quarterback. Tom Brady is gone and head coach Bill Belichick will have to make a decision. Will Newton replace the six-time Super Bowl champion? It remains to be seen.

“A lot of people would hide from the notion to do certain things, but for me, man, I think this opportunity is something that I wake up pinching myself every day,” Newton said. “It’s so surreal. Coming down 1 Patriot Place each and every day and seeing the whole ambiance. Not only that, but seeing so much support around the city of Boston and Foxborough, it’s just such a great environment. For not only myself, but players included. It’s crazy.”

It will take some time to get used to seeing Patriots practice without Tom Brady a part of the quarterbacks group. But then again, changes are normal part of life. Not that there’s anything normal about this year, though.
