Bill Belichick Reacts to Cam Newton’s Performance in Week 1 Victory vs Dolphins

Cam Newton was brilliant in his first game with the New England Patriots. The team celebrates an impressive win over the Miami Dolphins. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick praised Newton’s effort in Week 1. It looks like the former Carolina Panthers quarterback will give the Pats a really good season.

Belichick talked about Newton and the opening-season win. According to him, Newton has been “great” for the Patriots thus far.

“Cam’s been great for us….he’s a very unselfish player. He’s been a great teammate. He’s earned everyone’s respect, really daily.”

Bill Belichick liked Cam Newton in Week 1

When the Patriots were finishing training camp, Belichick named Newton the starting quarterback for Week 1. They also named him one of the team’s offensive captains. The Patriots head coach is confident about Newton. He likes what the quarterback brings to the field.

In the Week 1 game against the Miami Dolphins, Newton completed 15 of his 19 attempts for 155 yards. He leads the team in rushing, stacking 15 carries for 75 yards and two touchdowns.

Newton makes everything look easy. Patriots offensive coordinator had a chance to try out a different quarterback scheme. Newton is a runner and McDaniels took advantage of this.

Belichick added that Newton hasn’t scratched the surface yet.

“I thought he played well today…” Belichick said of Newton adding that there is “still room for improvement.”

That’s just Bill Belichick. He always asks for more.

New England finished the game with a win and that’s the most important detail of their season opener. It was great to see Newton leading the way. The Patriots offense was brilliant.

Pats players are travelling next week. They will confront the Seattle Seahawks. Newton will have to provide similar or even better performance in his second game as a Patriot.

Belichick would love to see him win. He would love to make the Super Bowl without Tom Brady. This would shut down every rumor related to the former Patriots quarterback and the best coach in the NFL.
