Cam Newton Addresses Patriots Nation After Being Named Quarterback

Cam Newton has sent a little message to New England Patriot nation recently. Yesterday, the Patriots came out and announced that Cam Newton was going to be the starter, at least for week one. This is big news and should make Patriot fans very excited for the season. It seems like everyone is happy to see some change. And people around the organization have said that Newton is a stud.

Head coach Bill Belichick is one of those people. He has many times come out with kind words about Newton. He is a former NFL MVP after all. Take a loo at what Belichick had to say about Newton.

“Cam’s a hard-working kid. He really is. He’s worked very hard, I’d say, as all of our players have.

“I’d say that certainly for all the quarterbacks, at that position, those guys have been locked in, focused and confident in what they’re able to do and the information they have to give to the team — play-calling, adjustments, audibles, protection adjustments, things like that. That’s all going pretty well.”

Now, Newton himself has a message for Patriot fans.

It sounds like Newton is ready to go. He definitely knows what it takes to be successful in this system. But does he know what it is like to have Belichick as his head coach?

Rex Burkhead also had some good things to say about Newton as well.

“Cam is a big guy, that’s for sure — just his physical presence,” Patriots running back Rex Burkhead said. “He’s always been a great player, just [with] his versatility — his ability to run the ball and pass as well. He’s been able to do that at a high level for many years.

“He has come in right away, head down, and tried to pick it up as quick as possible. … His first impact has been great. He’s just trying to learn as much as he can and mesh and jell with the rest of the guys.”

Regardless, the Patriots should be in a much better position that last year. Are you excited to see what they do this year? Will Newton be successful?
