Cam Newton Addresses Patriots ‘Need’ For No. 1 WR

Starting quarterback Cam Newton is working with a talented group of Patriots players this season. The 2015 NFL MVP went on the Greg Hill Show on WEEI on Monday to talk about the team and the receiving unit.

When asked whether the team needs to go after a star wide receiver, Newton provided a simple response. Well, we saw this coming.

“Man, I’ll say this, the answer is in that locker room. Simple and plain. … We good to go.”

The veteran quarterback likes his teammates and everything they bring to the field.

Cam Newton may not need more help from the Patriots

New England has been linked with multiple wide receivers, including Allen Robinson from the Chicago Bears. Odell Beckham Jr. from the Cleveland Browns is also an option. These two could provide a big boost for the team, but Bill Belichick doesn’t really do things that way. The Patriots almost never take part in such deals.

Mike Dussault of Patriots.com believes that Robinson and Beckham have zero chances to join the Patriots. He also believes the Patriots will go after a receiver at some point.

“I don’t think it’s looking good for popular picks like OBJ or Robinson, but I’d still say it’s a pretty good bet that they make a move for someone. They just might wait a couple more games to see exactly what they need.”

Gunner Olszewski has yet to make an impact. He may not be a No.1 receiver, but he is a really talented player. The Patriots don’t really know what they have on the receiving unit. Things will be a lot clearer in Week 4, following Olszewski’s return.

Newton leads the team to the top, and Patriots fans are impressed by his leadership skills. Will he stay healthy to finish the season with a Super Bowl win?

New England won the season opener against the Miami Dolphins. They didn’t have too much luck against the Seattle Seahawks. It was a good game though. Patriots players have excellent energy and they will use it to win games and make the Super Bowl.
