Cam Newton Quit Playing Baseball for a Surprisingly Relatable Reason

Cam Newton used to be a star in the making in baseball. But we all know how this turned out. Newton is now the starting quarterback for the New England Patriots. This was announced earlier this wee and was the talk of the NFL for several days. But Newton is not some random talent. He was an all star at Auburn before taking his talents to the NFL.

In his first couple years in the NFL, he won the NFL MVP and was considered one of the best QB’s in the league. Now it has come out that he was also a very good baseball player. However, he did decide to stop playing to a reason that was not public until now.

Newton was one of the players that was going to be a star in the NFL. That is, until it started going downhill. He did what he could to be successful but it was never enough. One of his teammates came out talking about how the Panthers failed to get Newton back on track.

Cam Newton Quit Playing Baseball for a Surprisingly Relatable Reason

Newton’s former teammate Mike Tolbert admitted that the Panthers failed to give Newton the help that he needed during his injuries. This should not be surprising.

“They’ve been doing him wrong timing-wise for the past two or three years if you ask me. It goes back to his shoulder surgery,” Tolbert said. “Everyone knew his shoulder was messed up in the middle of the year two years ago. But they wait until offseason gets ready to start to have shoulder surgery. Makes no sense. Timing’s off.”

However, football was not Newton’s first love. He started playing baseball first. He recently talked about why he stopped playing baseball.

“I quit baseball at 14 because I was afraid of the pitches. The kids started getting better and throwing faster, and it would’ve hurt getting hit by that ball, so I stopped playing. That left a void.”

Well, there you go. It sounds like baseball was probably the best for him and his skills. What do you think about what he had to say?
