Cam Newton Reveals Main Reason He Signed With the New England Patriots

Cam Newton just gave us the reason he officially signed with the New England Patriots. The Patriots have been very busy during this off season. With all of the opt outs and players who walked after last season, it is not shocking to wonder why. One of the biggest signings was Cam Newton, who should be a huge addition to New England’s offense.

It sounds like he has been making some waves in the training camp. Head coach Bill Belichick recently talked about what Newton brings to the table. It sounds like he is a hard worker and knows what it takes to be successful.

“I have learned a lot about Cam,” Belichick said. “I had never really had any interaction with Cam, and then when we signed him, we had some phone calls and WebEx meetings and stuff like that.”

“Being with him every day, he’s an extremely hard-working player,” Belichick went on. “First guy in, last one out type of guy. He really has studied hard and he has spent a lot of extra time trying to learn our offense and our communication and our calls, and nomenclature and so forth. Yeah, I’ve been very impressed with that. He’s done a good job of picking it up. He’s a very skilled athlete and we’re just working through it day-by-day.”

Cam Newton recently talked about his reasoning on coming to the Patriots. It sounds like a lot of his decision process surrounded Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. Newton had a very interesting response.

“I’m extremely excited. Josh, he’s in large part one of the main reasons I came here, as well. Obviously, throughout the process, I had a chance to meet with the personnel and the coaches, and me and Josh have just been tied hip to hip.”

Cam Newton has officially been named the starter for week one versus the Miami Dolphins. It will be very interesting to see how he does in regards to the Patriots offense. Will be be able to hang with it?

Only time will tell.
