Cam Newton Shares His True First Impression Of Bill Belichick

Cam Newton has recently come out with his real first impression of New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. Newton was signed over the off season to be a replacement for legendary quarterback Tom Brady. Brady decided to leave for Tampa Bay earlier this year. The Patriots have been busy to try to get the roster spots filled after such a disappointing season in 2019.

But 2020 looks much more promising. The team has been signing free agents left and right. None bigger and more surprising than Cam Newton, however. Newton is a former NFL MVP that has shown promise. He has struggled in past years, though. This is one of the reasons why he was not resigned.

Newton should fit into the Belichick offense very nicely. Especially if what we have heard about him turns out to be true. It sounds like Newton has been one of the hardest workers in the off season.

“He’s worked very hard, I’d say, as all our players have,” Belichick said. “We have a hard-working group. Those guys are ready to go and we’ve put in some long days and they’ve been very attentive throughout the process. I’d say that certainly for all the quarterbacks at that position, those guys have been locked in, been focused, have worked extremely hard, all four of them, and when they all get in the huddle, everybody has a lot of confidence in what they’re able to do and the information they have to give to the team – play-calling, adjustments, audibles or protection adjustments, things like that. That’s all gone pretty well, but again, we haven’t played at anywhere near the speed that we’re going to be playing at, so we’ll see how it all comes together at that point.”

Now Newton has come out with his first impressions of Bill Belichick.

“I think every type of stereotype I had about Bill Belichick changed the day I talked to him,” Newton said.

“Honestly it’s been so overwhelming at times that I just haven’t been able to grasp it from a whole totality standpoint,” Newton continued.

“I was in Carolina, and had given everything to that organization that I possibly can, and I will always have a place in my heart for Carolina. But as a professional, you go where you’re summoned to go, and what’s best for your career. Just as it will be what’s best for the organization. I’ve just been loving myself and loving this opportunity I’ve had, coming into this position.”
