Doc Rivers Responds to LeBron James Challenge Issued by LA Sheriff

Doc Rivers, head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers, has responded to a challenge that was sent to LeBron James by law enforcement. The Lakers finally know who they will face in the Western Conference Finals. The Denver Nuggets were able to take down the Clippers in Game 7 of round 2. But that still might not be a bigger story in 2020.

With the COVID 19 situation and everything else, it is hard to keep a clear head. Now, the BLM movement is once again in full swing. And as the king of the NBA, a lot of pressure has been put on LeBron James, fairly or not. This new story was definitely unfounded.

James received a message from LA Sheriff Alex Villanueva earlier this week. He basically told LeBron that if he cares so much about what is going on, then he should match the payment for a reward. But Doc Rivers fired back at this message.

Here is what the Sheriff sent to LeBron:

“I want to make a challenge to LeBron James,” Sheriff Alex Villanueva said Monday. “I want you to match that and double that reward because I know you care about law enforcement. You expressed a very interesting statement on race relations and officer-involved shootings and the impact that it has on the African-American community and I appreciate that, but likewise, we need to appreciate that respect for life goes across professions, races, creeds, and I’d like to see LeBron James step up to the plate and double that.”

Doc Rivers responded when he was asked about it.

“Listen, I don’t think anyone’s fanning flames,” Rivers said. “I just think we’re drawing attention to things that are happening in our country. Like I said the other night, we don’t want any sheriffs, we don’t want anyone killed, period, so if you just stop there and we can make it a better, safer place for all, that’s what we want. That’s all I have to say about it.”

Rivers will have lot of things to think about after getting knocked out of the Playoffs. What do you think about what he had to say?
