Former Patriots Lineman Kenyatta Jones Tragically Died Before Turning 40

A former New England Patriots lineman has tragically died before turning 40. The Patriots are currently getting ready for their week two match up with the Seattle Seahawks. It should be a great game and many fans are anxious to see how Cam Newton can play against better competition. It is very exciting to see such a big change on the Patriots.

Head coach Bill Belichick recently talked about what Newton brought to the field.

“He’s an extremely hard-working player,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said on the Rich Eisen Show on Monday. “First-guy in, last-one out type of guy. He’s really studied hard and has spent a lot of extra time trying to learn our offense, our communication, our calls, nomenclature and so forth. I’ve been very impressed with that. He’s done a good job of picking it up. He’s a very skilled athlete. We’re just working through it day by day. We have a long way to go.

“We’ve got a very competitive competition at a very competitive position at the quarterback spot. It will be interesting to see how everybody does.”

Former Patriots Lineman Kenyatta Jones Tragically Died Before Turning 40

But sadly, there is some bad news before the Patriots game this Sunday. Kenyatta Jones, a former Patriots lineman has died before the age of 40 it was announced.

Kenyatta Jones made NFL history by becoming first USF Bulls player drafted into the NFL.

Jones also went on to make some history of his own. He won the superbowl along side Tom Brady as a rookie in 2001.

One of his old USF teammates Joey Sipp remembered his teammate as being “extremely competitive.”

“You tell athletes all the time you can’t turn it off and turn it on when you wanted to. Kenyatta Jones was one of those guys who could turn it on and turn it off. … When he turned it on, he was unstoppable.”

Former USF fullback Otis Dixon noted Jones as the “ultimate teammate.”

“On a long, hot day, he was gonna help us get through practice,” Dixon said. “Life will never be the same. He hasn’t been in my life, but he’s in my life.”

Sadly, this was the high point of his NFL career. Jones had issues with legal and personal problems before dying suddenly before turning 40.

We give the best wishes to his friends and family. RIP.
