Julian Edelman Posts Career-High In Single-Game Receiving Yards vs Seahawks

The New England Patriots lost Week 2 to the Seattle Seahawks. It was an itchy 35-30 loss for Bill Belichick’s team. But, a few Patriots players had a career night. Veteran wide receiver Julian Edelman was brilliant in the game vs Seahawks.

Edelman hit career-high 179 receiving yards Sunday night. He caught eight passes on 11 targets. This includes a 49-yard reception, too. It was a really good performance, but the Patriots offense wasn’t able to do a comeback. They lost the game to Seattle. Will players use this as a motivation?

Edelman’s previous career high happened in December 2017. In that game, Edelman did 151 on eight catches and a touchdown. Pats players finished the game with a win over the Miami Dolphins.

In 2019, the veteran wideout finished with more than 100 yards in three games. It was in the Week 6 win over the New York Giants (113), Week 5 win over Washington (110) and Week 13 win over the Houston Texans (106).

Second-year wideout N’Keal Harry had a big night too. He passed his previous career-highs with a 72-yard performance. The wideout caught eight passes on team-high 12 targets. This includes two key receptions on the Patriots’ final drive of the contest.

“Doughboy has grown in front of everyone’s eyes,” veteran quarterback Cam Newton said of Harry.

Harry’s great game prior to this one happened last week. The wideout had 39 yards on five catches when New England defeated the Miami Dolphins in Week 1.

Newton had a brilliant game, too. He set a new NFL record with two rushing touchdowns. The Patriots starting quarterback has the most multi-rush touchdown games by a quarterback in league history.

The 2015 NFL MVP has rushed for more than one touchdown in eight games. This goes above Otto Graham, Jack Kemp, Steve McNair and Steve Young.

In Week 2, Newton led the Patriots in rushes. He finished the game with 47 yards on 11 carries.

James White didn’t join the team, and Patriots running backs struggled on the field. Sony Michel had 19 yards on seven carries and Rex Burkhead had two yards off of six attempts. J.J. Taylor had one carry and lost a yard.
