Lakers Release Troubling Update on Anthony Davis’ Status for Game 5

There is a troubling update on the Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis heading into game 5. The Lakers are currently in a battle with the Denver Nuggets and they are ahead 3-1. It looks like they should be able to pull out the victory and win the Western Conference Finals if they can keep up the high level of play. Unfortunately, it sounds like that might be easier said than done with some tough injury news.

According to reports, the Lakers have said that Davis is listed as questionable for game 5 due to a sprained ankle. The Lakers have been playing pretty well in the series so far. It is obvious that they are the more talented team. But that is not all that goes into a victory. The Nuggets have some weapons that if not kept in check, can go off.

One of those is big man Nikola Jokic, who has been great for Denver all year. The Lakers, with great defense from Davis, have been able to keep him in check for the most part. This will be much more difficult to do if Davis is unable to play, or has limited minutes.

Davis did come out and talk about his injury. He tried to play it off as not a big deal. We will have to wait and see if this is true.

“(We’ve) got tonight, tomorrow, before the game to get it back to, I don’t want to say back to where it was, but good enough to play,” Davis said. “Rolled it pretty bad, but not too bad. I’ll be fine.”

Head coach Frank Vogel also talked about it.

“It was good for him to play through it, but we’ll see how he responds overnight,” Vogel said.

Davis has been huge in this series. As a great defender, he has been able to guard Jokic better than most can. Hopefully his ankle will be strong enough for him to come out and play. The Lakers could close out the series tonight.

Do you think he will play?
