New England Patriots Possibly Getting Boost From Returning RBs

The New England Patriots very well could be getting a boost from returning RBs. The Patriots have looked pretty good so far this season. They are heading into Week 4 with a 2-1 record. Their one loss was against a good Seattle Seahawks team. But the Patriots were dominant against the Las Vegas Raiders.

With Cam Newton, this season’s play should not be a surprise. Head coach Bill Belichick knew what he was getting himself into when he signed Newton to a 1 year deal. And so far, the gamble has paid off for the Patriots. Newton has looked very impressive so far. Take a look at what Bill Belichick has said about him.

“I think when you’re talking about mobile quarterbacks — guys that are tough to handle, can throw, run, make good decisions … — I would put him at the top of the list.  “Not saying there aren’t a lot of other good players that do that, but I would say of all the guys we played recently in the last couple of years, I think he’s the hardest guy to (defend).”

“He makes good decisions, can run. He’s strong. He’s hard to tackle. He can do a lot of different things. He can beat you in a lot of different ways. We saw that in the game in 2013. I would put him at the top of the list. I’m not saying the other guys aren’t a problem, because they are. But he’s maybe public enemy No. 1.”

But now, the Patriots offense looks to get even stronger.

RB Damien Harris did look pretty good in training camp, and there was a thought he would come out as the team’s No. 1 running back this season. However, he suffered a hand injury that put him on injured the reserve.

In 2020, due to all of the new restrictions, being on the IR means you have to sit out for at least 3 weeks. However, Harris is now ready to return on Sunday against the Chiefs.

Harris could be a huge boost for the Patriots offense, which has already been playing pretty well. This could push them over the hump that they need.
