Patriots James White Injured… Updates on His Status

The New England Patriots will have to play wise with their running game. Running back James White sustained an injury right before halftime in the Week 1 game against the Miami Dolphins.

The veteran made a 9-yard reception and Dolphins players tackled him. He came up limping and then got off the field on his own. However, White didn’t join his team in the final draft of the half.

White returned for the game and he seems to be fine. He didn’t miss other snaps and finished the match with five rushes for 22 yards and three interceptions for 20 yards.

The Patriots rushed for 217 yards on 42 carries. They had similar number in December 2018.

James White, Belichick are not focused on the injury

The rushing numbers suggest that the Patriots are lining up in I-Formation and winning at the line of scrimmage. Their game on the ground on Sunday was a bit complex. New England used different looks sharpened by the offensive coordinator to use well the personnel.

White played an important role in the process. He is able to make plays out of the backfield as a safety valve. White’s role keeps the defense “honest” and this contributes to Newton’s mobility.

Patriots players will have many different games this season. The Seattle Seahawks are next on their list. It’s a road game for the New England Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick has nothing to worry about. His new starter helped the team win and that’s more than relieving for the coach. Newton works really well with his new team, and his debut went more than great.

The Patriots have a chance to try a different type of game, and Newton was the one who led the team in rushing. We can only hope to see a similar performance in Week 2. The Seattle Seahawks are not a threat and the Patriots are ready for their style. New England will have a good season and the opening win is the best proof of that.
