Patriots Make Tough Call After WR Suffers Another Injury Setback

The New England Patriots are expected to make a few more changes to the active roster. The team deals with multiple challenges at one time, and head coach Bill Belichick has an important decision to make. Gunner Olszewski’s injured foot is giving him a big trouble, so the Patriots will have to find a replacement for the WR following his injury issues.

The Patriots will place Olszewski on injured reserve and he won’t join the team in the next few weeks. Saturday was an important day for the team, and the active roster saw a lot of changes. Olszewski was sent to injured reserve. Kicker Nick Folk will start Week 1. Defensive tackle Xavier Williams has taken a different path too.

Patriots coaches need a replacement for the WR after his injury

Some believe that the Patriots may use training camp star Devin Ross as a replacement for Olszewski. Isaiah Zuber is waiting for his turn, so New England may use him after all.

The Patriots will play Week 1 with four wide receivers, including N’Keal Harry, Jakobi Meyers, Julian Edelman and Damiere Byrd. In other words, the Patriots won’t run any true five wide receiver lines. Belichick may decide to James White and J.J. Taylor to these positions. Tight end Devin Asiasi may take the same route.

Belichick and his staff will make a few more changes to their offense. Analysts have made some bold predictions, and it looks like Belichick will do what it takes to take his team to the championships again.

Olszewski was the Patriots’ third receiver. He also returned punts and kicks. He is out of the field now, and the Patriots will have to find someone to replace him.

Evan Lazar from CLSN ran a poll to get some ideas on the Patriots’ next move. The results showed that rookie safety Kyle Dugger may take the role as he won 43 percent of the vote.

Things will be a lot clearer on Sunday and the team hopes to enter the season with a win. The Miami Dolphins aren’t their biggest threat at the moment.
