Patriots Sign Powerful, Under-the-Radar Rookie WR

The New England Patriots have made a bunch of signings in the past few days, and now they sign a rookie WR for the win. The team added a talented wide receiver to the practice squad on Tuesday. Kristian Wilkerson measures at 6 inch 1, 214 pounds, and seems like a nice backup for N’Keal Harry. Analysts agree that the SE Missouri State star will be able to make something happen after a catch.

Wilkerson is the second rookie free agent Bill Belichick has signed who practiced with the Tennessee Titans this summer. The Patriots signed Mason Kinsey, a talented player from tiny Berry College. Unlike Kinsey, Wilkerson has better experience against strong competition at SE Missouri State. He may not have a strong background, but the Missouri Tigers did throttle the Redhawks in 2019. Missouri prevailed 50-0 and Wilkerson had one catch for 15 yards.

Some would say that the rookie wide receiver doesn’t have what Belichick needs to take the team to the Super Bowl.

Snatching two players who spent time with the Titans confirms the Patriots’ connection to the Tennessee organization. Former Patriots superstar Mike Vrabel is coaching the Titans right now. It looks like Vrabel and Belichick tend to choose similar players for their rosters.

Wilkerson will have a chance to impress head coach Belichick on the practice squad. He will get a chance to move up if someone gets injured. This makes us think of Harry. But, an injured Harry is one of the last scenarios the Patriots think of ahead of the season opener against Miami.

Patriots count on Harry as a major downfield threat. He is a perfect fit for Cam Newton. Wilkerson’s physique may play a big role in his future with the Pats.

New England released and signed a lot of players. Some of the cuts have returned to join the team and hopefully make the Super Bowl. It’s a big season for everyone, and pretty much every player on the roster is trying to make a good game.
