Pau Gasol Announces Birth of Daughter Who’s Named After Gianna Bryant

Los Angeles Lakers legend Pau Gasol honored Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna in the most brilliant way. The former Lakers center named his daughter after Kobe’s daughter, and left everyone in tears. Gasol made a big announcement following the birth of his daughter.

The basketball legend and his wife, Catherine McDonnell, welcomed their baby on Sunday. Gasol took to his Twitter account to announce they have decided to name the baby Elisabet Gianna Gasol in honor of Kobe’s daughter.

Gasol and Kobe became friends right after the All-Star big man joined the Lakers at the trade deadline in 2008. The duo won back-to-back championships with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010. They remained friends even after their game days.

Gasol found the perfect way to nourish the legacy his friend and Gigi left behind.

The Spain international and Lakers legend has spent time with Vanessa and her daughters. The girls call him uncle. Naming his daughter after the talented Gigi is Gasol’s latest effort to carry the legacies into the future.

Vanessa took notice of the great act and her response was emotional. She is more than grateful for everything Gasol and his family did. She congratulated him and his wife for the birth of Elisabeth Gianna. Vanessa is looking forward to meet the baby.
