Rajon Rondo Surpasses Isiah Thomas on NBA’s Playoff Assist Leaderboard

Los Angeles Lakers veteran Rajon Rondo passed Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas on the league’s playoff assist leaderboard.

LA plays the Houston Rockets in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals. Rondo moved up to the 12th spot in the all-time playoff assist list. Rondo’s third assist of the game was actually his 988th assist overall in the playoffs. The Lakers veteran passed Thomas’ 987 assists. Denic Johnson is on this list with 1,006 assists. Michael Jordan is No.10, Kobe Bryant is ninth and Scottie Pippen took No. 8.

NBA analysts agree that Rondo is one of the smartest guards in the NBA. Rondo is making his ninth playoff appearance in his 15 years as a professional player. Rondo has made the playoffs for the first time as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The talented guard started his career with the Boston Celtics. Rondo won his title in his second year in the NBA and first postseason campaign.

Rondo joined forces with Hall of Fame trio of Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce. They played an important role in Boston’s championship run in 2008.

Doc Rivers made a good offer designating him to run the offense. NBA analysts believe that Boston had a Big 4 and not a Big 3.

Rajon Rondo passed big names on the NBA playoff assist list

The Celtics won the Larry O’Brien trophy and they built an incredible tradition. Boston was one of the elite teams in the NBA. In 2010, the Celtics made a trip back to the finals, but lost the run to the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games.

Rondo didn’t have much luck with other teams. He struggled to fit in with other organizations following his stint with Boston. However, Rondo is an excellent guard and the Lakers use him really well.
