The New England Patriots are trying to get the roster down to where they feel it is agreeable. They had a pretty disappointing season last year and this was not okay for Patriot fans. Tom Brady walked over to Tampa Bay after 20 years with the Patriots. But apparently, this was going to revive the Patriots team.
It might seem like kickers are not the most important part of an organization. That is very understandable for most people. The Patriots have been trying to work out a way where they could be way more successful during the 2020 season.
The kickers are apparently more of a part of the team than we think.

Would the Patriots really consider bringing Adam Vinatieri back? His named was mentioned as a potential replacement by NBC Sports who listed the following notable free agent kickers: Matt Gay, Graham Gano, Stephen Hauschka, Kai Forbath, Chase McLaughlin, Cairo Santos, Giorgio Tavecchio, Matt Bryant, Adam Vinatieri, Aldrick Rosas, Lirim Hajrullahu #Patriots #NewEnglandPatriots #CamNewton #StephonGilmore #DevinMcCourty #JasonMcCourty #PatrickChung #BrandonBolden #LawrenceGuy #ChaseWinovich #JoshUche #KyleDugger #JoeThuney #JamesHarris #LamarMiller #JarrettStidham #AdamButler #DariusKilgo #DevinAsiasi #DaltonKeene #JulianEdelman #NKealHarry #MohamedSanu #DavidAndrews #BillBelichick #RobertKraft #AFCEast #AFC #NFL #JustinRohrwasser
Vinatieri is one huge free-agent kicker. But still, if we are being honest we will talk about it. He is coming off the worse season of his career and has failed to look good at all. He was able to make only 68 percent of his attempts and was very sad in his other attempts.
It would be very difficult to understand how Folk or Rohrwasser would fail to make the roster based on their abilities. It seems like they should very much be able to go on. Folk was able to pass Rohrwasser. However, for reasons we still do not know, he did not make the cut.
Still though, this is nothing compared to what Cam Newton has been going through. Head coach Bill Belichick talked about what Newton has been doing.
“I can see why he had the kind of success he had at Auburn and at Carolina,” Belichick said. “In talking to people that were with him there, the things that they said about him at Auburn and at Carolina from a decade ago or two, three years ago, or even last year, it was all the same, and it showed up here. He’s an extremely hard worker. Nobody works harder than Cam does. He’s here early. He stays late and he works very hard.
“Some players like to work on things that they’re good at, like if you’re strong on a bench press, you just keep throwing more weight on the bench. But Cam is the type of player that works on things that he’s not as good at and really tries to improve on a daily basis, and that’s something that I really respect about him. That’s not easy for players, or really any of us, to do. Look at something that we don’t feel like we’re very good at or is not one of our strengths and put extra time into it. I would say it is a natural tendency to do things you’re good at. He’s worked extremely hard in all those areas.”
What do you think?
