Report: Patriots Sign Nigerian Powerhouse as Replacement For Oft-Injured 2nd-Year Pro

The New England Patriots have officially sign a Nigerian star as a replacement which could be huge. The Patriots have been very busy in the off season so far. With all of the things that are going on, it has made it very difficult to get the pieces that they need to be successful. After last season, it was obvious that the team needed some things in order to go where they are expected.

The Patriots had to once again place Yodny Cajuste on injured reserve on Saturday. As a result, they have signed Caleb Benenoch to the practice squad. The Patriots have been hit by the injury bug pretty bad this off season. It was one of the reasons why they have been so busy trying to get back on track.

This could be a pretty good signing for the Patriots. We will have to see what he brings to the field. It is very exciting to finally see the NFL season in action.

The 6’5″ 305-pounder was picked up back in 2016 in the 5th round. He was picked up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is from the same city as NBA Hall-of-Famer Hakeem Olajuwon which is Lagos, Nigeria. Benenoch has been with many teams during his time in the NFL. He has been with the Patriots, Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions.

His stay with the Patriots will likely be pretty short depending on injuries that they continue to face. It will be very interesting to see what he can bring to the field if he ever sees playing time.

Most eyes will be on Cam Newton today. Head coach Bill Belichick talked about what he has seen from Newton.

“He’s come in and do everything we’ve asked him to do,” Belichick said. “He works had. He’s obviously a very talented player and looking forward to continue to work with him. We’ll just take it day-by-day, but he’s given us everything he’s had and we’ve tried to put the team in the best position we can competitively. We’ll see how that all comes out. I’m sure a lot of things will change as the season goes along. We are where we are for right now and just keep trying to get better every day.”
