Results From JaVale McGee MRI Revealed

Los Angeles Lakers veteran JaVale McGee tweaked his ankle during the first half of the Game 2 win over the Western Conference Semifinals and had to have his MRI. The veteran didn’t return to the game after playing eight minutes. Well, the great player feels good enough to take the court for the upcoming game with the series tied.

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel told media members on Zoom after Monday’s practice that McGee was questionable to play in Game 3 against the Houston Rockets. The team provided an update on McGee’s condition and his MRI results are out now.

JaVale McGee brings hope with his MRI results

The MRI on McGee’s left ankle came back negative. He will join his teammates in the game against Houston. Vogel also said that Dion Waiters will get further testing for his strained groin Monday afternoon. After the testing was done, the Lakers listed Waiters as doubtful for Game 3.

Waiters and McGee left Sunday’s game against the Rockets with their injuries.

McGee is averaging 4.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 12.5 minutes per game in the playoffs. He has the least playing time of other Lakers starters. If McGee doesn’t start due to the injury, Vogel will have to make some changes to the rotation. Vogel will probably go with Dwight Howard in the starting lineup. Anthony Davis may move up to center in the starting unit.

Waiters hasn’t played much. He has only appeared in five of the Lakers seven playoff games. The talented player is averaging 2 points on 33.3% shooting in 7.6 minutes per game. Should Waiters miss this game, it will minimally impact the team’s rotation. J.R. Smith or Quinn Cook may get more minutes.

The Los Angeles Lakers need every bit of talent on the roster. They lost Game 1 of the series. The Game 2 win will motivate players to keep playing at this pace. It seems like LA has found a solution for James Harden and his team. It was a beautiful win and the Lakers should go with the same force.
