Watch: Cam Newton Runs For His Third Touchdown of The Year

Veteran quarterback Cam Newton won’t disappoint the New England Patriots, and this touchdown is the best proof of that. Newton joined the Patriots this offseason and head coach Bill Belichick named him starting quarterback days ahead of the season opener. It looks like the Patriots head coach has high expectations from Newton.

Newton entered the 2020 NFL season with a heavy load on his back. Analysts kept bringing theories about his debut with the Patriots. Most of these theories didn’t go in favor of the 2015 NFL MVP.

Cam Newton to score another touchdown

Belichick hired Newton as a replacement for Tom Brady and that was a big bite to swallow for the former Carolina Panthers quarterback. Replacing TB12 is not even possible, but that doesn’t mean that Newton is a terrible player. He is nothing like Brady and his playing style is really different. Unlike the GOAT, Newton is a runner, and we could see more of that in Week 1 of the 2020 NFL season.

Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels had a chance to try some of his running plays, and Newton is a good fit. Brady wasn’t a mobile quarterback and McDaniels used a different scheme in the past few years.

Newton’s great start with the Patriots was different than the Brady-led team.

“Everything we’ve done for the last 20 years, and rightfully so, was for Tom Brady. Everything was dedicated to him other than the games he didn’t play in,” said Belichick. “Like when (Matt) Cassel played or Jimmy (Garoppolo) and then Jacoby (Brissett) when Brady was suspended. There were times when we had to plan differently, but when your starting quarterback has things that he’s good at or things that you can take advantage of then I think you try to take advantage of them.”

We definitely understand that. Belichick trusts Newton and the quarterback is doing his best to help the team win. From what we can see, his leadership is of great help for the Pats. They look really great in Seattle.
