Watch: Chase Winovich Absolutely Launch Carlos Hyde During Patriots-Seahawks

The New England Patriots are on the road, confronting the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2. Seattle is not an easy opponent, but the Patriots have found the perfect way to shut down the team. Well, Chase Winovich definitely made Carlos Hyde look small on the field and that says a lot about the Patriots and their readiness to win games.

In the second quarter of the game, Hyde had to provide pass-blocking for quarterback Russell Wilson. Kyle Dugger broke down the Seahawks defense and Winovich took advantage of that. The second-year linebacker launched Hyde. Literally.

Chase Winovich slams Carlos Hyde for a win

Winovich is in his second year in the NFL and his rookie campaign was really promising. He was trying to see more action on the field in 2020, and it looks like he has just created the perfect base for that.

New England entered the season with too many key departures on the defensive side of the ball. Many thought Winovich to step up in Year 2, and that’s exactly what he did in the first game of the season.

The talented player had six tackles including one tackle for loss and one quarterback hit in the 42 defensive snaps he played in the Pats’ 21-11 win over Miami. He has an expanded role, and that’s more than surprising.

“It definitely wasn’t expected, but it worked really well in camp,” Winovich said when asked about moonlighting as a nose tackle in Week 1. “And it was one of those things that I’m not sure of Coach’s inspiration for it, but he told me to go down there, and I said, ‘You know what? I’m gonna do the best I can and kind of use my skillset in kind of an untraditional manner for that position at that part of the field.’”

New England has a completely different roster this season and it looks like the new guys do their job really well. Head coach Bill Belichick has made a lot of changes and he will probably make a few more in the next few weeks. Winning games is a priority right now.
