Watch: Inside Patriots Locker Room Celebration

The New England Patriots opened the 2020 NFL season with a 21-11 win over the Miami Dolphins and celebrated it in the locker room. Veteran quarterback Cam Newton did an incredible job in his debut with the team. The Patriots offense combined for 357 total yards, and 217 of these came on the ground. Newton, Sony Michel, Rex Burkhead, J.J. Taylor, James White and Julian Edelman saw some action on the ground.

After watching the Patriots play, NFL analysts believe that the current team has a chance to make the playoffs in 2020. A little boost can go a long way, and the Patriots may be champions again. Without Tom Brady, of course. When it comes to the GOAT, he and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost the opening game.

Newton’s legs led the way. His style changed the entire game plan and he was a threat on read options and passing downs. Newton has a pair of fresh legs and looks perfectly well at this point. Miami had no chance agains the Patriots offense in Week 1. Brady didn’t run and seeing Newton do all this was really refreshing.

Patriots players will hopefully see another locker room celebration next week

Patriots running backs will benefit from the great offensive line and Newton’s run game. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Jedd Fisch will definitely be looking for some new ways to use Newton’s running game.

The Patriots played their best football at the beginning of the third quarter. They didn’t rely on the passing attack, but analysts praised Edelman’s connection with Newton. The team added some runs, play-action passes and read-options. Miami couldn’t answer any of this. On the eighth play of the drive, the 2015 NFL MVP rushed 11 yards to knock over the pylon and score to finish the eight-play, 75-yard, 4:46 minute drive. This gives us an insight into McDaniels’ plans for the upcoming games. This drive was more than brilliant.

The Patriots defense ranked second in 2019, and now they lead the league in interceptions. Stephon Gilmore and J.C. Jackson snagged interceptions and Jackson finished the game in the best way possible. Adrian Phillips picked Ryan Fitzpatrick before the end of the first half to set up a missed field goal by kicker Nick Folk.
