Watch: LeBron James Calls For And-1 Mid-Air Before Making Layup

LeBron James had a nice play where he called for an And-1 in mid air before he made a layup. The Los Angeles are back in the Finals for the first time in many, many years. This has been a great year for the Lakers when we definitely expected it. It has also been a very tough year for everyone. With the COVID situation as well as Black Lives Matter it has been tough.

The NBA has been very proactive in trying to make change. And LeBron James has been very vocal about what he thinks needs to be done. Take a look at what he said recently about violence against police.

“I’ve never in my 35 years ever condoned violence,” James said in a videoconference. “Never have. But I also know what’s right is right and what’s wrong is wrong, and I grew up in the inner city in a Black community in what we call the hood or the ghetto, however you want to picture it. And I’ve seen a lot of counts first hand of a lot of Black people being racially profiled because of our color. And I’ve seen it throughout my whole life. And I’m not saying that all cops are bad because, I actually throughout high school and things of that nature, I’m around them all the time and they’re not all bad.”

“But when you see the videos that’s going on and you can see all over the — not only my hometown, but all over America — you continue to see the acts of violence towards my kind, I can’t do nothing but to speak about it and see the common denominator. But not one time have I ever said, ‘Let’s act violent towards cops.’ I just said that what’s going on in our community is not okay and we fear for that and we fear for our lives.”

But that does not mean they can’t focus on basketball. LeBron and the Lakers have been huge in the playoffs. And LeBron in particular, made sure his team would not lose. LeBron had a nice And-1 in game 5 against the Denver Nuggets.

The Nuggets were very unhappy over the call, as refs don’t really call the continuation on this kind of play usually. The officials, however, believed the Lakers star was already in his shooting motion as he went up for the layup.
